Abstract
In Mauritius, trade union have had to increasingly militate against irresponsible plant closure, overnight layoffs, price increases and even cases of union intimidation. The initial objectives of this project were to explore the current legal, social, economic and political aspects of trade unionism, to make critical examination of industrial relations in mauritius from a specifically gender perspective and to conduct a review of trade unionism in public and private sectors in Mauritius.
