This project aims to validates a mutualised reusable packaging system for the Fast Moving Consuming Goods sector in Mauritius. The Proof of Concept (PoC) integrates polyvalent industrial washing, structured reverse logistics, and a digital coordination platform to demonstrate operational, technical, and economic feasibility. A centralized washing facility will process stainless steel and glass containers under strict hygiene protocols. Collection and redistribution operations will be tested with pilot clients to assess efficiency, return rates, and scalability. A digital platform will enable multi-stakeholder access, container tracking, scheduling, and KPI monitoring, including operational and environmental indicators such as water and energy use, and container reuse rates, supporting data‑driven optimisation and quantitative assessment. The system innovation lies in combining industrial infrastructure, coordinated logistics, and digital traceability into a scalable reuse ecosystem. The PoC will generate evidence on feasibility, hygiene compliance, operational efficiency, and stakeholder adoption, establishing the foundation for wider deployment. Commercially, the system can be offered as a pay-per-use service for local producers but also potententially restaurants and caterers, supporting ESG goals and regulatory compliance. The digital platform can scale across multiple clients and regions, creating a replicable, technology-enabled circular economy solution.
