Scientist at heart and by qualification, I am currently the Project Monitoring Officer at the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council. With both parents having spent long careers as educators at secondary level, my career path was all traced to becoming an educator myself. With that idea in mind, I went to the University of Mauritius and graduated with a first class honours Bachelor degree in Chemistry and gold medalist in my batch. Fate had other ideas and I instead received a full scholarship from the Tertiary Education Commission, Mauritius to pursue an MPhil/PhD at the Centre for Biomedical and Biomaterials and Biomedicine, Mauritius. While doing my MPhil/PhD, in order to broaden my horizon, I embarked on securing an MBA (Specialisation in Quality Management) by distance learning from Sikkim-Manipal University (India), where I was also awarded the best project for my final year thesis. After receiving my Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focused on Polymers/Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine, I have worked as lecturer, research assistant and research analyst, with a demonstrated history of successfully undertaking both desk and laboratory research. I am a dedicated professional, passionate about seeking out new avenues for innovative practices in all fields. Conscious of my entitled existence due to my upbringing by amazing parents and excellent life opportunities, I make it a point to donate money every month to both local and international charities and NGOs. As luck would have it, after donating $10 to the Young Storytellers Foundation via omaze.com, I was chosen to spend one week in Los Angeles and spent one day on the set of the US TV show, ‘How I Met Your Mother’ in January 2013. I am an avid fan of soccer and tennis (tennis which I practice regularly) and am pre-emptively sad in anticipation of the retirement of my favourite player, Roger Federer.
